    Male

    When we worked as an undercover agent for a crime investigation department in the American army, he revealed dangerous facts which led to him being retired early. But the department needed his knowledge and Paul Brenner reluctantly re-entered the service, explains his creator Nelson DeMille. He then became a colleague of Cynthia Sunhill, and their cooperation developed into a romantic relationship.

  • Annika Bengtzon

    Female

    Annika Bengtzon is the creation of the Swedish author and journalist Liza Marklund and possibly Sweden’s best-known journalist. She is married with two children, but she is also a highly competent crime reporter with a bad conscience on account of neglecting her family. Bengtzon is a complex woman who can be hard and tough one minute and reduced to tears the next. Nevertheless, she is portrayed as a highly capable modern professional woman.

  • Tommy Beresford

    Male

    The red-headed Thomas ‘Tommy’ Beresford is something of an unimaginative but stubborn Englishman, who took part in the First World War and was wounded twice. He subsequently married his childhood friend Prudence ‘Tuppence’ Cowley, and they have two children and adopt a third. Together, the couple solve a number of cases with good humour and entertaining dialogues in four novels and a collection of short stories by Agatha Christie.

  • Zack (Zackarias) Herry

    Male

    A tragic childhood turned 27-year-old ‘Zack’ Herry into a split personality. When he was six years old, his mother was murdered. Now, in the daytime, he is an ambitious police detective in Stockholm, but at night he lives a crazy life with drugs and booze in illegal clubs. He is described as handsome, with blond hair, in good physical condition and the main character in the Hercules series by Mons Kallentoft, Markus Lutteman and Anna Karolina.
