    Female

    Anna Pigeon is a US national park ranger, which is also the profession of her creator, the author Nevada Barr. Pigeon has a complex background that includes periods of substance abuse, and she has a complicated love life. She used to live in New York, but because of her profession she moves around a great deal. She loves animals and she is an active environmentalist.

  • Kerstin Holm

    Female

    She worked for the Göteborg criminal investigation department and was engaged to a police officer who beat her up. She was transferred to the national crime squad’s A group, which Arne Dahl (pseudonym for Jan Arnald) has written about. When the group was split up, Kestin Holm continued as a police officer, and she has made several guest appearances in Dahl’s books about the international police force OPCOP.

  • Petra Connor

    Female

    She is beautiful, slim, with black hair and black eyes – and is a tough and good murder investigator. Connor is employed by the Los Angeles homicide squad, and she cooperates with author Jonathan Kellerman’s main character Alex Delaware in several of his cases. She is herself also the main character in two novels. But she has a background she doesn’t like to talk about, and her private life is pretty messy, to put it mildly.

  • Jackson Lamb

    Male

    Misanthropic boss of Slough House, a department for discharged spies and agents in the British MI5. Jackson Lamb, a central figure in a suite of novels by Mick Herron, is a former spy who has gone to seed. He is tall, has an ‘offensive’ face, is cynical and sarcastic, a chain smoker and is careless about his personal hygiene. This doesn’t prevent him and his department from managing to solve several sensitive spy cases.
