    Female

    After a messy divorce, journalist Magdalena Hansson, together with her adoptive son Nils, moves from Stockholm to Hagfors, where she has got a job with the local paper, Värmlandsbladet, which is struggling to survive with falling sales. She shacks up with her teenage love Petter, and also solves several murder cases together with her police friends Petra Wilander and Christer Berglund in books by Ninni Schulman.

  • Lars Martin Johansson

    Male

    Johansson is head of the Swedish Police. He first appears in Leif G. W. Persson’s first book <i>Grisfesten</i> and then returns in a string of novels by the author. He was previously married to Gunilla; they have two children together. After a few years he marries Pia who is 20 years younger. He is a passionate hunter and eventually dies of a stroke.

  • John Corey

    Male

    When he worked for the New York police homicide unit he was seriously wounded. While on sick leave he solved a double murder, which aroused such attention that he was recruited to an anti-terrorist task force. There, he met Kate Mayfield, a beautiful lady who later becomes not only an FBI agent but also John Corey’s wife. Together, they combat terrorists and spies in novels by Nelson DeMille.

  • Gunnar Mellberg

    Male

    A detective inspector, later chief inspector, in Lund, Sweden. He is tall, well-built, smokes a pipe and is interested in gardening. With his wife, he has four children. K. Arne Blom has written five novels (and a book for people with reading impediments) about Gunnar Mellberg. In the first novels, he has a minor yet important role, in the final one it is revealed that he is the son of one of Blom’s main characters, the security agent Loman.
