  • Lisa Mattei

    Female

    In 2005, Leif G.W. Persson wrote about the young detective inspector Lisa Mattei; ten years later, she is a middle-aged operations manager for the Swedish security services. She made a rapid career, but has a bad conscience because she rarely has time to be with her family, her husband Johan and her daughter Ella. She has private means, and is something of a connoisseur when it comes to clothes, for example. But she is also a gifted and skilful police officer.

  • Jonny Lilja

    Male

    He is a police officer, but also a gambling addict which means he has to help the mafia. That is not the only problem for Detective Inspector Jonny Lilja in Malmö. When his ex-wife Lena is murdered, he becomes a suspect. However, he pulls himself together, stops gambling and then moves in with his adoptive daughter, Maria. He is, according to author Olle Lönneaus, middle-aged, a bit shabby-looking, with a lined face and wide mouth.

  • Kate Brannigan

    Kate Brannigan is a private detective at Mortensen & Brannigan in Manchester. According to the author, Val McDermid, she dropped out of law school. Brannigan is a tough, quick-witted, independent woman with a great deal of integrity. She refuses to move in with her music journalist partner who lives next-door. She never gives up a case, not even when all the odds are against her.

  • Sean Dillon

    Male

    An IRA soldier, born 1952, who later changes sides and is a British agent in a long row of novels by Jack Higgins (pseudonym for Henry Patterson). As a young man, short, blond Sean Dillon has a brief acting career, and is an expert on disguise. He is also a skilled pilot and diver, as well as an expert marksman and linguist. As a British agent, he got Liam Devlin, another of Higgins’ heroes, as his mentor.
