Detective Chief Inspector (DCI) in Oxford and the main character in a suite of novels by the pseudonym Cara Hunter. The kind and compassionate Adam Fawley is in his early 40s and a little more than 180 cm tall, dark-haired, and moreover very attractive. He solves his cases with the help of an experienced team of detectives. His wife is the lawyer Alex, and the couple are grieving their only child, their son Jake, who died at the age of ten.

Gunnar Mellberg
Male
A detective inspector, later chief inspector, in Lund, Sweden. He is tall, well-built, smokes a pipe and is interested in gardening. With his wife, he has four children. K. Arne Blom has written five novels (and a book for people with reading impediments) about Gunnar Mellberg. In the first novels, he has a minor yet important role, in the final one it is revealed that he is the son of one of Blom’s main characters, the security agent Loman.

Flavia de Luce

She was indeed a rather ordinary and everyday 11-12-year-old (with dental braces), but mature for her age, and determined too, with a mind of her own and smart, and she busied herself with nasty-smelling chemistry experiments.
