He is the calm and systematic protagonist in a series of novels and short stories by the British author Peter Robinson. DI Banks likes model railways, sixties rock and his colleague Annie Cabbot, with whom he has had an off and on relationship after divorcing his wife Sandra.

Detective inspector in Oslo, later superintendent. Yngvar Stubø – who is often called Adam Stubo in translations – is a middle-aged man with an everyday appearance and who is described as gruff, but is also very fond of children. He meets and builds a family with forensic psychologist Inger Johanne Vik, who is the principal protagonist in a suite of thriller-like novels by Anne Holt, and together the couple solve cases.

Peter Pascoe

The well-educated, well brought-up, intelligent but somewhat unimaginative detective Peter Pascoe is the permanent companion to his brusque boss Andy Dalziel in the detective stories by Reginald Hill.
