Mikael Blomkvist

The journalist Carl Mikael Blomkvist was born in Borlänge, but he lives in Stockholm. He was nicknamed Kalle Blomkvist (for a child detective created by Astrid Lindgren), after he solved a series of bank robberies. He is one of the main characters in Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy and the official sequel. Blomkvist is editor-in-chief at <i>Millennium</i> magazine and collaborates with his rebellious punk friend Lisbeth Salander.

He is a former sea captain, now more than 80 years old, and in need of a walking stick as well as a hearing aid in his daily life. But there is nothing wrong with his memory and deductive reasoning. He is the calm and systematic protagonist in a series of novels and short stories by the British author Peter Robinson. DI Banks likes model railways, sixties rock and his colleague Annie Cabbot, with whom he has had an off and on relationship after divorcing his wife Sandra.

A very eloquent, smart and worldly Swedish adventurer and gentleman thief, who eventually also turns out to be a skilled detective. Filip Collin, who often calls himself Professor Pelotard, together with his companions – the Frenchman Lavertisse and the Englishman Graham – is mainly engaged in financial crime in a number of books written by Frank Heller (pseudonym for Gunnar Serner).
