These are generally full of mysteries, but Adamsberg’s unorthodox methods and competent colleagues are a great help to him. Adamsberg is the creation of Fred Vargas, pseudonym for the French author Frédérique Audoin-Rouzeau.

He meets and builds a family with forensic psychologist Inger Johanne Vik, who is the principal protagonist in a suite of thriller-like novels by Anne Holt, and together the couple solve cases.
