Holt is a complex woman, a determined and inventive investigator and a skilled interrogator.

A principal character in Maj Sjöwall’s and Per Wahlöö’s ten police novels, he is the typical meticulous, unhappily married, ulcer-suffering inspector in contemporary crime fiction.
