Thomas Lynley is a Scotland Yard detective inspector. He is also the eighth Earl of Asherton, he is rich, well educated and good looking. Not everybody appreciates his aristocratic background, including his sergeant, Barbara Havers, which does not prevent the two from making a formidable team. According to the author, Elizabeth George, they respect each other’s idiosyncrasies. Lynley features in all Elizabeth Georges adult novels.

Linda Martinez
Female
Her mother is English, her father from Jamaica and she (Linda Martinez) is a police officer in Stockholm. She makes a quick career, and becomes the head of the investigative section. She was introduced in a TV series by Jan Guillou and Leif G.W. Persson in the 1990s, and has since then played a more or less large role in several of Persson’s books. She doesn’t like to talk about her private life, but she can be very blunt and direct, and likes strong beer.

She once gained an Olympic medal in rowing and later became a Secret Service agent, but lost her job when she had been careless with the protection of a presidential candidate who was murdered. David Baldacci describes Michelle Maxwell as 30 something years old, attractive,175 cm tall, with dark hair – and an expert at close combat. Ted (Edward) Conkaffey

Edward Conkaffey, better known as Ted, lost both his job and family after having been accused of molesting a young girl sexually. He was exonerated of all charges, but as persistent rumours didn't fade away, he's now living on his own with a dog and seven geese. He's tall and muscular, with black hair and blue eyes. He sometimes teams up with a young female detective, Amanda Pharrell, in books by Candice Fox.
