Alan Grant is a Scottish detective inspector employed by Scotland Yard, although he would not really have to work for a living as he has inherited a small fortune from a relative. He solves crime in a string of whodunits by Josephine Tey. With his nondescript personality he blends in everywhere. He is a skilled, although rather one-dimensional, detective.
