Fluke, Joanne (pseud.)

American writer Joanne Fischmann has written books in popular fiction genres, using a series of pseudonyms and name variations, the most well-known being Joanne Fluke. She was born Joanne Gibson in the town of Swanville, Minnesota, to a family of great culinary traditions. Many were professional bakers, a fact that has had a marked influence on her writing. After graduating from Swanville High School in 1960, she studied at St. Cloud University and at California State University in San Bernadino, from where she graduated with a B.A. in Psychology.
