Cook, Robin (1940-)

American doctor, businessman and author, who has written a long row of thriller-like medical crime novels, many of which have ended high up on the American bestseller lists. Robert Brian Cook was born in Brooklyn, New York, and spent his first years in Queens in the same city. When he was eight years old, the family moved to Leonia, New Jersey, where he grew up. His father was an artist, his mother a housewife, but she was energetic and ambitious for her son. Already when he was four years old, he was a model for children’s clothes under the name Robin Cook; he subsequently used this name for his novels.
